How is coaching different from other services

  • Consultants give advice and say: Here’s the solution.
    (Coaches assure you follow through.)
  • Motivators do pep-talk and say: Here’s the carrot & whip.
(Coaches assure incentives change with you, so that your goals are really leading to your passion and what is truly you and not just a hip thing to do.)
  • Trainers instruct and say: Here’s how to do it.
(Coaches assure you master that knowledge. So a coach does not tell, but rather explore together with you what you can do and put in place in order to be successful)
  • Therapist focus on the past and say: Here’s why you’re doing it.
(Coaches focus on what’s right about you. So the focus is not on the past and the ‘why’, but rather on the future and the ‘how’  are you going to ensure that you will achieve what you set out to achieve)
  • Mentors share what they did in the same situation and say: Let me show you the ropes.
(Coaches might share some insights but will not advise and suggest based on past experiences. Every situation is different, so it would be foulish to believe that the coach knows what is best for the coachee.)
  • Sport Coaches say: Here’s how to beat others.
    (Coaches assure you’re in a win/win mode.)
